Metal Control Panels
We print metal machine plates, either supplied by our customers or made for us to our customer's drawings. These are usually aluminium (plain or painted) or painted steel. The inks we use are extremely tough and go through a heat curing process. This makes them resistant to everyday wear and most chemicals. For metal labels see Labels.

Plastic Control Panels
Either die cut for operating keys to protrude through (see The Face of Xerox Fax Machines) or membrane switches that are operated by pressing the panel itself.

Normally we print on polycarbonate, a clear plastic available in a variety of thickness and with the option of a gloss or matt (mark resist) surface. Subsurface printing is usually used as this protects the graphics from abrasion caused by frequent use, but sometimes both surfaces are printed for a particular effect. The finished panel is almost always laminated with adhesive on the back, and usually die cut to fit a recess in the machine to which it will be fitted. We also emboss symbols as a tactile guide to key location.
